“Feel free to practice sitting or lying down. You can even go for a walk. Maybe you are by a beach, if you are feel free to go there for our meditation today.

Visualize a beach where the sand is covered with shells. Each shell has a history--telling a story of a life that once lived. They have been brought to rest upon the shore by the ocean, or maybe a curious hand, maybe another animal. They create a scattering, a mess by any other measure, but a beautiful one.


Now take a moment to think about your life. Where is there a similar scattering? Maybe it's your physical space--toys, boxes, mess scattered throughout your house. Maybe it's your mental space--stress, worry, things to do scattered throughout your brain. Maybe it's your emotional space--feelings of sadness, anger, or hurt that make you feel as if you are a scattered mess.


Just as those shells tell a story, so too does the scattering in your life. Rather than seeing your mess as a problem, try imagining it as a beautiful mess. Behind your chaos is a tale of love, joy, exuberance, and life.”
